Abia first lady talks tough on herdsmen rampage

The wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu said that government will no longer fold hands and watch herdsmen destroy lives and property in Abia State.
The Governor’s wife stated this when she visited Miss. Esther Ibeneme who has been receiving treatment as a result of injuries sustained from attack by herdsman at the Aba General Hospital in Abia State.
According to her, “my appeal is to the hospital to take appropriate care of the victim, on our own as government we will offset the costs of her treatment and ensure that appropriate measures of security are provided to ensure that this kind of situation do not arise again in Abia.
Also in the visit was the Transition Committee Chairman, Aba North Local Government Area, Barr. Charles Eseonu who said that it’s unfortunate that this herdsmen are becoming violent to the extent of threatening lives which may lead to reprisal attacks.
He urged Abians to remain civil adding that government will use all its security apparatus to arrest the situation.
Meanwhile, the victim, Miss. Esther Ibeneme explains that she was attacked by a herdsman with machete because she asked the herdsman who blocked her shop with cows to vacate the cows so that she can have access to her shop, the nest thing was to see myself being machetes this way.
I also thanked the Governor’s wife for coming to my rescue by paying the hospital bills.
However, the Doctor in charge, Dr. Mrs. Amaka Kamalu said that the victim is traumatised by the loss of her fingers and needs assistance as a result of injuries sustained in the attack.
She, again expressed her joy that the Governor’s wife visited to offset the bills.
