Abia First Lady Commission Wash Project In Old Umuahia health Centre

The Wife of Abia Governor Mrs. Priscilla Otti, says she was delighted to commission a water reticulated borehole initiated by the Wash Project and assisted by the United States of America’s Embassy in Old Umuahia health Centre.

This, she said is a sign of many more projects to be commission in the state.

According to her, “recently we flag off Maternal/newborn health week for pregnant and lactating mothers in the state,

these type of programmes including youths and skills acquisition, women empowerment and the general health of women are very dear to me” she said.

However, I have noted your challenges and will relate with the Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, who is ever ready to address some of these challenges.

Therefore I commend everyone who made this project a reality.

In her remarks, the representative of the USA embassy, Mrs. Ugomma Ejimonu, said that the essence of the US aid is to ensure that hygiene is sustained in our health facilities.

Earlier, the President General of Old Umuahia Development Union, Mr. Chibuzo Ejimagwa, explained that the community health centre is the beehive of health care delivery in Umuahia South LGA and has contributed immensely to providing quick first aid services, maternal/child care within here and the neighbouring communities.

However, he pleaded to the state government to intervene in the area of women and youth empowerment, skills acquisition, extention of street lightening and construction of speed breakers on the road to save lives in the community.
