Abia Environmental health officers to receive N200,000 monthly imprest

 

Heads of Environmental Health officers in the 17 local government areas of Abia State would henceforth receive the sun of N200,000 as Monthly imprest to enable them carry out the job Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has approved two hundred thousand naira each as a monthly Imprest to enable them ensure proper sanitary inspection of the state.

The Commissioner for Environment, Mr Philemon Ogbonna, who disclosed this during a meeting with HODs of Environmental Health Officers of the 17 LGAs of the state, challenged them to move into the nooks and crannies of the state and ensure a proper clean and hygienic environment.

Mr Ogbonna urged them to work harmoniously with the Mayors of the local government, pointing out that the present administration expects much from them in terms of service delivery.

He emphasised the need for them to change that impression of collecting bribes which people have against them, maintaining that the present administration would not hesitate to sanction any of the sanitary inspectors who compromise in his or her duties.

The Commissioner further encouraged them to support the efforts of the Dr. Alex Otti-led administration that has given priority attention to the cleanliness of the state, as well as restoring the sanitary inspectors across the state.

He explained that the present administration was much more environmentally and would support the sanitary inspectors across the 17 LGAs of the state to discharge their duties effectively.

Responding the Chairman of the forum of Heads of Environmental Health Officers, Mrs Onyinyechi Nwaigwe, thanked the Governor, Dr Alex Otti, for his administration’s interest in the environmental cleanliness of the state, and the Commissioner for his commitment to duty and assured that they would work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in them by Governor.
