Abia D Gov. Holds boundary meeting, to inaugurate state boundary committee soon.

The Abia State Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, has announced the inauguration of the State Boundary Committee next week.

Speaking at Aguiyi Ironsi conference center, Umuahia, during this year’s maiden boundary meeting held at the Aguiyi Ironsi Conference Centre, Engr. Emetu, also called for the invitation of Ndi Mmenme Abam and Ndi Ojiaku, Abam both in Arochukwu L.G.A, of the state, for the demarcation of their land boundaries.

He pointed out that Abia is faced with internal and external land boundary challenges because it shares boundary with seven states of Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Cross River , Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, and Rivers.

Engr. Emetu however assured that the Governor, Dr Alex Otti is poised ensure that all internal and external boundaries gets resolved this year.

He challenged members of the boundary committee that would be inaugurated soon, to strive to bring in their best to achieve the desired results.

Speaking earlier, the State Consultant on Boundary matters, Sir Chris Nwanevu and State Boundary Officer, Surveyor Ikechukwu Nwankwo, respectively gave a download of the successes recorded in the demarcation of Ndi Mmenme Abam and Ndi Ojiaku Abam land boundary as well as other progress recorded in other locations experiencing boundary disputes.

The State Surveyor General had earlier read out the minutes of the meeting held with the National Boundary Commission in Abuja.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Mayor of Ikwuano L.G.A, of the state, Sir Charles Ugboajah who briefed the Deputy Governor on the land boundary dispute between Ariam Usaka in his local government and Ikara local government area of Akwa Ibom state, passionately called for an urgent intervention and resolution of their boundary issues to save lives and property of the people.
