Abia Customary Court President, Judicial Service Commission Members Tasked On Upliftment Of The Judiciary

 

 

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has charged the newly sworn in President of the Abia State Customary Court of Appeal, Honorable Justice Okey Nwamoh and members of the newly reconstituted Judicial Service Commission to make progressive contributions to the transformation of the state Judiciary.

Speaking during the event at the Government House,Umuahia, Ikpeazu, while congratulating the newly sworn in president and members of the Judicial Service Commission, said that much is expected from them and therefore urged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of their duties.

 

The Governor charged the newly sworn in officials to be diligent and committed to the upliftment of the state Judiciary and to the stability of Abia State.

“I charge you to make contributions to the growth of the state and country in general.

“You have been carefully selected and I am confident that you will bring your wealth of experience to bear on this new assignment as much is expected from you and I am confident that you will not fail Abia and its citizens,” he said.

The Governor pledged that the Executive will continue to provide the tools that would enable the newly sworn in officials to do their jobs effectively and maintain the prevailing cordial relationship between the three arms of government.

 

Ikpeazu said that the state government will not relent in ensuring that the welfare of the judiciary will be upheld and prayed God to grant the newly sworn in officials good speed in their new assignment.

In his acceptance speech, the President, Customary court of Appeal, Justice Okey Nwamoh on behalf of members of the Judicial Service Commission, appreciated the governor for discharging his constitutional duty and assured that he would discharge themselves creditably.

 

He said that his emergence as the substantive President of the customary court of Appeal was informed by the retirement of the immediate past President, Justice Stella Ururuka Onyenso after the mandatory retirement age of 65 years.

Nwamoh thanked the state government for the opportunity to serve and added that they would continue to discharge his judicial duties with diligence.

Members of the Judicial Service Commission are: Barr. Henry Balogu, Mrs Ngozi Ukwuenyi,Mrs Joy Nwakanma and Hon Clement Ugorji while the Chief Judge of Abia State Hon Justice Arisa Ogwe as well as the President Customary court of Appeal are statutory members of the commission.
