Abia Covid 19: Umuahia North receives new committee for guideline Enforcement

 

As the novel pandemic continue to ravage the world and governments at all levels make frantic efforts to fight the virus to a stand still, the Abia state government has inaugurated the State Covid 19 Protocol Enforcement Team to assist in enforcing government directives in  three LGAs of the state, to include Umuahia North, Umuahia South and Ikwuano.

Receiving the team at the Umuahia North Council Secretariat, the Transition Committee Chairman, Hon Lucky Akabuike, expressed joy that a new set of committee has been inaugurated to help enforce government directives in containing the spread of the Covid 19 pandemic, especially in the use of facemask, social distancing and regular hand washing.

According to the Council boss,there are already existing committees set up by the local government to ensure the orders of the state  government are not flouted and expressed happiness that the Protocol Committee would further  help the state to actualize its fight against the global pandemic.

Hon Akabuike further assured the team of his full support both in the area of manpower and logistics, calling on all hands to be on deck to fight the coronavirus, as it is a disease that does not respect class,race, religion or tribe.

Speaking, the chairman of the  Protocol Enforcement Team, Mr Ifeanyi Okorie, said the Protocol Enforcement team for covid 19 was formed to render support to the existing committees in the state.

Okorie said the duty of the team is to enforce the outlined guidelines against the spread of the Covid 19 and as part of its responsibility, the team would be embarking on community as well as public sensitization of people, on the need to adhere strictly to government’s preventive measures and if they fail to comply, they would been arraigned before the mobile court.

He, however, noted that there is already a matching order by the state government to close all borders, promising that the team would toe in that direction,so that the order receives total compliance, for the purpose of making Abia covid 19 free.
