Abia Chief of Staff Tasks Commissioners on Civil Service Reforms For Greater Productivity

 

The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, has called on the Commissioners in the Abia State Civil Service Commission to develop impactful strategies aimed at restructuring, rebranding, and repositioning the state’s civil and public servants for enhanced productivity.

 

Pastor Ajagba who made this statement at the Government House, Umuahia, while receiving the Commissioners in the State Civil Service, emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and dedication to achieving a more efficient Civil Service capable of meeting the needs of Abians.

 

Describing the Civil Service as a vital machinery for implementing Government policies and programs, Pastor Ajagba highlighted Governor Alex Otti’s commitment to transforming Abia State by addressing systemic challenges and fostering the positive changes that citizens have long desired.

 

He urged the Commissioners to view their appointments as a call to serve, strive for excellence, uphold fairness, and shun parochial interests.

Pastor Ajagba reiterated that Governor Otti’s administration is determined to implement meaningful reforms in the Civil Service and assured the Commissioners of the Government’s full support in their duties.

 

The Chief of Staff also congratulated the Commissioners on their appointments and cautioned them against perpetuating practices that contributed to the state’s underdevelopment.

 

He encouraged them to embrace the administration’s vision for progress and accountability.

 

In her response on behalf of her colleagues, the Commissioner 1 of the Abia State Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Ifeoma Agu, expressed gratitude for the warm reception.

 

She stated that their visit was to foster collaboration with the Chief of Staff and reaffirmed their commitment to aligning with Governor Otti’s policy direction to drive reforms and development in the Civil Service.
