Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, says his government will continue to maintain receptive postures to members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
Dr Otti, who spoke through his deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, during a Umuahia during a banquet, organised in honour of members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria who were in the State for their Eastern Zonal Conference.
Gov. Otti used the opportunity to urge members of the professional group to leverage their expertise to develop innovative solution to address the economic challenges facing Nigeria.
He advised them that as professionals, they have a critical role to play in shaping the economic destiny of the nation and urged them to live up to expectations.
Dr. Otti commended the Abia born President of the Institute for choosing the state for their zonal conference.
Speaking, the ICAN President, Chief Davidson Alaribe, commended Governor Otti for appointing true professional individuals, including their fellow accountants in various positions in his government and stressed the need for professionals appointed to live up to expectations.
Chief Alaribe, who described Governor Otti as a thorough bred professional, thanked him for his sustained support to ICAN and also used the opportunity to appreciate Governor Otti for appointing their members into many positions of trust in his government.
The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, FCA, Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Uwaoma Ukandu, and his Environment counterpart, Mr. Philemon Asonye Ogbonna, the Accountant-General of the State, Mrs. Njum Uma – Onyemenam were
among other government officials present at the dinner.
