Abia Assembly Reassures Commitment to Support Gov Otti’s Security Policies

Abia State House of Assembly has reassured the State Government of its readiness to enact laws that will support the activities of the Executive under the leadership of Dr. Alex Otti in securing lives and property of Abians.

 

Speaking during a parley with some Security chiefs in the State, the Deputy Speaker who doubles as the House Committee Chairman on Security and Boundary Matters, Rt. Hon. Austin Okezie stated this while briefing newsmen at his office shortly after their meeting.

 

Rt. Hon. Okezie, disclosed that the purpose of the security parley with the security personnel was to intimate the Legislators on how they can collaboratively work to solve the security challenges in the State and a way forward.

 

He revealed that their chat with the Security men were fruitful adding that they are taking the right steps in the right direction through the outlined policies of the State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, in combating security challenges in the State.

His words” from our parley with them, I can tell you categorically that reasonable efforts are been made; an appreciable one at that, and I can tell you that results thus far are very commendable. Going forward, it’s a matter of time, all the security challenges in the State are going to be reduced to the barest minimum “, the Deputy Speaker said.

” Therefore, on behalf of my committee members, I must tell you that we are very happy with the results and the steps taking by the State Government.

 

The Committee Chairman, however, stated that security men are up to their game concerning the missing children of same parents that happened recently in Ukwa West part of the State.

Recall that Abia State House of Assembly during her last plenary mandated its Committee on Security and Boundary Matters to interface with security chiefs in the State over the worrisome security challenges in some parts of the State and as a matter of urgency to fish out and bring to book the criminal elements responsible for the missing of 4 children of same parents allegedly abducted by a tricycle operator in Ukwa West Local Government Area.

 

Members of the committee present during the parley were, Hon Godwin Adiele, Ukwa West, the Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Emeka Obioma, Umuahia South, and Hon. Lucky Nweke Johnson, Isuikwuato State Constituency.

Others were, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Mr. Macdonald Uba, Assistant Director on Tactical Operations, DSS, and the State Commander, Abia State Vigilante Group, Mr. Idika Martins.
