Abia Angels to become the dorminant football club in the federation, says Mrs. Otti.

The wife of Abia Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti said that her vision for Abia Angels football club, the female football team of the state is to see them become the dominant football team in the federation and global stars plying their trade in different parts of the world as they bring honour to the state.

Mrs. Otti stated this at her government house office in Umuahia today when the management and team members of the football club paid her a courtesy visit.

She expressed joy at the development of talents in the club, adding that apart from football being a unifying factor in the country, it is now becoming a global business where Abia state government is poised to support emerging talents like Abia Angels.

The Governor’s wife also assures the club of her support to surmount their challenges, stressing that she will relay others too much for her to the state governor who she believes will tackle them headlong.

Earlier, the leader of the team and chairman, Abia Angels football club, Mr. Johnson Nwosu, stated that Abia Angels is the only female football team from the South-East currently playing in the elite division in the country.
He pointing out that 3, players from the club are currently among those competing in the under 17 world cup.

He enumerated some of the challenges of the club to includes lack of training materials, lack of facilities in their camping ground and vehicles for ease of movement.
Nwosu thanked the state government so far for their support.

In their separate remarks, the Commissioner for Sports, Mr. Nwaobilo Ananaba and her Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation counterpart, Mrs. Ngozi Felix, praised the club and assures them that Governor Otti, apart from confronting myriads of challenges in the state frontally, will support the club so far it will bring development and glory to the state.

Meanwhile, the Governor’s wife assisted the club with bags of rice and made cash donation to help the club in the meantime
