Few days after the State government flagged off the Abia Airport Project in Nsulu, Isialangwa North Local Government Area, Abians have taken to different euphoria to call for support to ensure the completion of the project in due time.
In an interview with our reporter during the birthday celebration of Chief Eric Opah’s wife and children in Nsulu, a Governorship Aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), in the 2023 gubernatorial election, Chief Ncheta Elvis Omerekpe(Offor Ndigbo), called on ndi Ngwa to give their unflinching support to the project as the host community.
Chief Ncheta Omerekpe said the project was a good developmental idea, hence requested every progressive Ngwa man to support it.
He said the airport project when completed would shave off the rigorous processes they go through to board flight in other states, stating that it is exciting that they can take off from their community and as well land.
Recall that the Abia State government had targeted 24 months completion of the newly flagged off Abia Airport Project in Nsulu, Isiala Ngwa North LGA, despite a 36-month completion contractual agreement with the contractor.
Govt Otti who extracted a commitment that in 24 months the Airport will be ready for use, said he is bent on repositioning the state and giving it a better placing far from what he met on ground.
According to the Governor during the  groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Abia Airport, Nsulu, said the Federal Government had initially proposed and made provision for an Airstrip in the 2024 budget, but consented to the Abia State Government’s request to make it a full-fledged Airport. “A Project that would be handled by Craneburg Construction Company”,he said.
Omerekpe, however, called on the Ngwa community to back this significant achievement, which would bring substantial development to the region.
Celebrating Mrs Ogechi Christiana Opah and her children, Michelle and Fortune, Chief Omerekpe congratulated them on their new ages and wished them a wonderful life time.
Offor Ndigbo, who is a cousin to Chief Eric Opah, extended his goodwill  to his brother and the entire family, praising them for their valuable contributions to community development.
