Abia State Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, has received investiture as a special member of Ridge Club Umuahia.
Speaking after his investiture, Chief Okiyi Kalu, expressed excitement for joining the club and appreciated the member of the club for their support to governor Okezie Ikpeazu in taking the State to the next level of development.
Chief Okiyi Kalu, who described Governor Ikpeazu as a transitional leader, said he embarked on numerous projects to take care of the present situation and plan for the future hence the establishment of Enyimba Economic City, which would create up to seven hundred thousand jobs in the future.
The Commissioner stated that 86 road projects have been completed while 71 active project sites are ongoing, pointing out that the Governor has been delivering projects that would stand the test of time in the State.
He disclosed that 17 cottage oil Mills would be established in the 17 local Government Areas (LGAs) for easy processing of oil palm following the planting of 4 million teneran oil palm seedlings across the state.
While he thanked the Ridge Club Umuahia for the honour given him, Chief Okiyi Kalu, promised to support the club with a donation of a Table Tennis Board to encourage the sporting activities in the club.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of Ridge Club Umuahia and a Permanent Secretary Bureau of Special Services, Sir Uchenna Dike, said the special member investiture is given only to special people who have contributed to societal development and disclosed that the club appreciated the performance of Chief Okiyi Kalu in information management especially in promoting and projecting the activities of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in the State
Sir Dike used the medium to appreciate governor Ikpeazu for his support to ensure the completion of the new clubhouse which was commissioned during their recent induction ceremony and centenary celebration.
In their contributions, the Chairman Central Planning Committee of the ceremony, Chief Ukwu Rouks Emma and the Social Secretary of Ridge Club Umuahia, Alison Obiajunwa thanked all who contributed to the success of their ceremony and described the club as one of the special clubs in the federation.
