Stakeholders and delegates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Umunneochi Local Government of Abia State have endorsed Professor Uche Ikonne as their sole candidate, ahead of the PDP Gubernatorial primaries and 2023 Abia Gubernatorial elections.
A delegation led by Leaders of the four Political Zones in Umunneochi made this known during a solidarity visit to Professor Ikonne at his Umuahia residence.

Prince Dan Okolie (Zone 4), said ” we have come with one voice to tell the world that Umunneochi leaders and delegates have today, May 21, 2022, declared our total support for Prof. Ikonne and his Abia Guber Aspirations”.
The Member Representing Umunneochi in the Abia House of Assembly, Hon. Okey Igwe, moved the motion for the adoption of Professor Ikonne as Umunneochi sole candidate for Abia Governor come 2023, while the former member representing Umunneochi in the Abia House of Assembly, Prince Ikedi Ezekwesire seconded the motion.
Earlier in their speeches, the Umunneochi PDP party Chairman, Woman Leader, the Coordinator Uche Ndi Abia in Umunneochi, Hon. Commissioner for Information Barr. Eze Chikamnayo, expressed confidence in the person of Professor Ikonne who they attest to his ingenuity in leadership, as experienced given the leadership positions he has held.
Addressing the delegation, the leading PDP aspirant, Professor Uche Ikonne noted his interest to partner with Ndi Umunneochi, as to put the state on a faster lane of development.
He also revealed that his administration will run an all-inclusive government where every Abian will feel a sense of belonging.
In his vote of thanks, the Director-General of Uche Ndi Abia Campaign Organization, Rt. Hon. Chindeum Elechi, thanked Ndi umunneochi and implored them to remain resolute in their support for Professor Eleazar Uchenna Ikonne.
The visit attracted the presence of the Executive Chairman Umunneochi Local Government area, Chief Madu, His Deputy, Jubilee Eze-Chikamnayo, The Deputy Director-General of Uche Ndi Abia Campaign Organisation, Chief Ibe Nwadioha, among other dignitaries.
