Abia 2023: Students Donate N5 Million To Support PDP Guber Candidate, Prof. Ikonne

Students have donated the sum of N5 Million Naira to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Guber Candidate Prof. Uche E. Ikonne in support of his gubernatorial project.

Ambassador Philips who disclosed this during a fund-raising ceremony for the PDP guber candidate in Umuahia recently, noted that the kind-hearted benevolence from students’ meagre allowance, attests that Prof. Ikonne is widely loved by the people, especially the youths.

Meanwhile, the Abia state Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has maintained that Prof. Uche Ikonne and his deputy, Barr. Okey Igwe have the required experience to move Abia forward, adding that 16 years legacy of PDP in Abia would not be left in the hands of inexperienced politicians that would take Abia backward.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Abia state, Barr. Chris Ezem, he urged Abians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and vote PDP massively come 2023 general elections.

In his speech, the Abia state PDP Guber Candidate, Prof. Uche Ikonne thanked Abians for standing with PDP in the past two decades in the state, maintaining that the country has suffered a great deal in the hands of All Progressive Party (APC) in the past seven years, hence the need to vote for PDP at all levels.

Represented by his Deputy, Barr. Okey Igwe, he urged everyone to take the message of Uche Ndi Abia to the grassroot, adding that “Prof. Ikonne is a progenitor of change”.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman on the occasion and the former Nigerian Ambassador to Argentina, Chief Empire Kanu, thanked the PDP leadership in the state for remaining formidable, adding that the integrity and wealth of experience of their guber candidate would make winning 2023 general elections easy.

In his remark, the PDP Chairman, Abia state, Rt. Hon. Alwell Asiforo Okere reiterated the party’s resolve to win all the elections that would be contested in 2023 general polls, adding that PDP is the only party at the grassroot with the capacity to returning Nigeria back to winning ways.

He noted that the fund-raising event was geared towards changing the narratives of one person solely sponsoring the party’s candidates to participatory sponsorship.

Contributing, the Chief Launcher, Elder Raymond Aliga insisted that Prof. Ikonne candidacy would take Abia to the next level of development.

In his words: “I am passionate about Abia state because am an entrepreneur from Abia state. I am also happy, seeing Made in Aba products competing favourably in Abuja, Lagos and the International markets”.

He hailed Gov. Ikpeazu for proving leadership for the state with numerous legacy projects completed across the state.

Also, the MD/CEO, Mainland Oil and the Chairman Finance committee of PDP campaign council, Chief Chris Odinaka Igwe expressed hope that Prof. Ikonne’s leadership when elected would transform the fortunes of Abia in terms of critical infrastructure, Human Capital Development among others.

He urged all Abians to go to their wards and units and spread Ikonne’s participatory governance message among other supports.

In their separate remarks, Chief Chris Nkwonta, Rt. Hon. Cosmos Ndukwe, Chief Maurice Abazie, Chief Okey Ahaiwe, Chief Mba Ukariwe, expressed hope that a combination of Prof. Ikonne and Barr. Igwe would move Abia to the next level.

Eze Joseph Ndubuisi Nwabekee

In a related development, the Chairman, Abia state Traditional Rulers Council, His Eminence Eze Joseph Ndubuisi Nwabekee hailed Gov. Ikpeazu for the relative peace and developmental projects in the state, expressing hope that the next governor would do better.

In his vote of thanks, the Chairman, Organizing Committee and Contact Mobilization Sub-Committee, Chief Gabriel C. Onyedilefu, thanked Abians and Nigerians for their support towards Uche Ndi Abia project, stating that the party would live up to their billings.
