A community leader in Okwoyi, Ibeku, in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State, Engr Ogbonnaya Abarikwu, has expressed deep appreciation to the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti, for completing a water borehole project in the community, addressing a long-standing issue of water scarcity.
The Community which has been relying on unsafe water sources for the past eight decades, got a relief after the Abia State government completed a solar powered borehole system, providing safe drinking water for residents of Okwoyi community.
Speaking in an interview with National Ambassador Newspaper, the 2023 APGA candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Engr Abarikwu, commended the Governor for his intervention, noting that the community had suffered for years without access to clean and safe drinking water.

He emphasized that before the project, residents of Okwoyi relied on unsafe and distant sources for their daily water needs, which exposed them to health risks. According to him, the new borehole project has brought significant relief and restored dignity to the people.
“This project is not just about water. It is about life, health, and development. We are grateful to Governor Alex Otti for listening to the cries of our people and taking decisive action to solve this pressing problem. The entire community is filled with joy and gratitude,” Abarikwu stated.
He further urged the state government to replicate similar projects in other rural communities facing similar challenges and called on residents to protect and maintain the borehole facility to ensure its sustainability.
Abarikwu described the project as a dream come true, lauding the Otti’s administration for prioritizing grassroots development and pledged his continued support for the government’s initiatives.
Similarly, Engr Ogbonnaya Abarikwu, congratulated the Governor on his 2nd year anniversary which he said has brought transformation to the state.
He said the State has witnessed unprecedented development spanning various sectors of the State, urging the Governor to keep sustaining the tempo of progress.
