African Action Congress AAC in Rivers state said it went to court to stop
the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)from proceeding in electoral process in the state as it has lost confidence in the commission.
Rivers state chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC) Precious Ogbokoma said the party is also seeking the redeployment of INEC Resisident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers state, Obo Effanga and other electoral officers who may have been compromised before continuing collation of result.
” why we went to court is that the Rivers State Resident Electoral Commissioner, and all the collation agents, and returning officers that are card carrying members of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP should be replaced with immediate effect.
Andthey should change them and bring in new Resident Electoral Commissioner for them to continue with the process, that is the essence of the court injunction. Because let it not be that we just lie low and be thinking that INEC is fair, not biased, and we just sit down and fold our arms and wait for them to come down to do final collation, and at the end of the day, it will not favour us. And they will now tell us that the best option is to go to the tribunal ” he stated.
Meanwhile, Governor Nyesom Wike has criticised the African Action Congress governorship candidate Biokpomabo Awara for going to court to stop the collation of result for the election he claimed to have won. Governor Wike made the criticism when the Peoples Democratic Party PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus led other members of the Party’s National Working Committee to pay him a solidarity visit at the Government House Port Harcourt.
