Abia Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has flagged-off the construction of a 10 kilometer road, stretching from Ugwuati in Ukwa West to Umuozuo in Osisioma to Uratta in Aba North Local Governnent Council with a charge on the contractor to commence work on the road immediately.
The Governor further charged the contractor handling the project to ensure that that the road is asphalted before the rains set in and expressed belief that he would deliver a quality job.
The Governor said that the relationship between him and the Ukwa people is symbolic, hence his decision to locate the Enyimba Economic City and make the world see Abia through Ukwa land.
In their speeches ,Chief Nkem Abonta and Mr. Mezie Nwubani assured the Governor would complete the road and advised the people to coorporate with the contractor.
They equally thanked him for the Enyimba Economic City which is being located in Ukwa land.
Earlier, the Ukwa West Local Government Chairman, Mr. Goodluck Nwobiwe while noting the that Ugwuati-Umuozuo-Uratta road is a major road, thanked the Governor for his decision to construct it.
Nwobiwe commended the Ikpeazu administration for providing light for Ukwa people who he said had no light for three years and assured that Ukwa West would give him bloc votes in 2019.
