NSCDC Commandant vows to tackle pipeline vandalism, insecurity

 Ahead of the Yuletide,the new Abia state Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,(NSCDC) Barr. Cyprian Nwannaukwu says his command  has mapped out plans to further improve the security situation in the state.

 

Barr. Nwannaukwu stated this when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Okezie Ikpeazu at Government House, Umuahia.
He disclosed that 17 persons had already been arrested for pipeline vandalism and solicited the assistance of the Abia state government to enable them discharge their duties.
The new NSCDC commandant expressed confidence of a better working relationship between the Abia state government and the command.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in his response, stressed the need for collaboration among the security agencies in the state to fight crime adding that his administration is committed to supporting the security agencies to carry out their duties.
The governor while stating that Abia has 150km of pipeline which need to protected against vandalism to avoid unwanted concequences such as fire disaster,charged the NSCDC to deploy more proactive approach to the fight against pipeline vandalism in the state.
He further challenged the command to fight the issue of child trafficking and cultism confrontating the state.
