Next year’s Africa Cup of Nations will no longer hold in Cameroon. The Confederation of African Football CAF made this known after a 10 hour meeting held in Ghana on Friday.
CAF statement partly reads, “A number of compliance conditions have not been met.” Due to contractual commitments CAF cannot postpone the Africa flagship competition that have been expanded from 16 to 24 teams and will take place for the first time between June and July.
South Africa, Egypt and Morocco are among the top contenders to replace Cameroon. CAF president Ahmad Ahmad said he would work hard to get a new host before the year runs out.
