Countdown to EPL Kick-off: Focus on AFC Bournemouth.

AFC Bournemouth was formed in about 1899. It was known then as Boscombe FC. In 1910, the club signed their first professional football player B. Penton and about this time, the club obtained their nickname “The Cherries.”

The club went into administration in February, 2008 as they had debts of about 4 million pounds. In June 2009 a consortium took over the club and turned its fortunes around.

STADIUM

Dean Court is currently known as the Vitality Stadium for sponsorship purposes. It is located in Bournemouth.

In August 2014, Chairman Jeff Mostyn revealed that the club were looking at the possibility of redeveloping the stadium rather than moving to Matchams. The naming rights changed in July 2015 when the stadium became the Vitality Stadium.[2]
