Book Launch: I’ve combined intellectualism with governance- Ikpeazu

Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu says he has been able to combine intellectualism with governance to bring about various innovations in the state.
Ikpeazu who was speaking in Umuahia at the book launch in his honour titled,”The  scholar in Governance.A kaleidoscope on Okezie Victor Ikpeazu Ph.D”,said the scholar in him has brought to bear various innovations in the administration of the State especially in marketing made in Aba products, SMEs, and the education sector among others.

 

The governor who acknowledged the feat achieved by secondary school students of the State for three consecutive years in WAEC in addition to winning the prof Woke Soyinka price for literature also  congratulated the management, staff and students of ABSU for running full academic activities in the institution for three years without strike actions as well as moving from number 90 to 30 in the scale of ranking.

Ikpeazu  said that the book launch in his honour is in order to expand the frontier of  education adding that the country can no longer ignore Abia in terms of education.

He reassured Abians of his commitment to continue to serve.
Also speaking, the governor of Sokoto state, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal thanked the organizers for having him as a special guest for the occasion , noting that it was his first official engagement as governor of the State since joining PDP.
Vice Chancellor Abia State University Uturu,Prof  Uche Ikonne noted that the proceeds to be realised at the book launch would be used to build a post graduate Laboratory for the department of Biochemistry in the Abia State University Uturu, to open up frontiers of learning and research.
Prof Ikonne extolled governor Ikpeazu for proving himself both in academics and politics.

 

Chairman on the occasion,Chief Emeka Anyaoku in his remarks said he has no doubt that the book will be anobjective window through which the people of the State will appreciate how governor Ikpeazu is combining intellectualism with visionary pragmatism in delivering developmental projects in Abia State.

 

The book was reviewed by the vice Chancellor, Rivers State University, Prof Blessing Didia.
