Wike gives condition for release of constituency projects funds in Rivers State

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, says funds for this year’s constituency projects would only be made available to the state lawmakers after they must have rendered proper accounts for the 2017 funds.

He made this known shortly after signing the state’s N510 billion 2018 Appropriation Bill into law in Port Harcourt.

Wike, who assured that the budget would be implemented diligently for greater development of the state, commended the state House of Assembly for the speedy passage of the 2018 budget.

“Your early passage of this budget means that we will expedite action on several areas of development. At present, we have already started work,” he said.

He, however, charged the Assembly to work with relevant agencies to implement their respective constituency projects, as captured in the budget.

He said funds for the implementation of the 2017 constituency projects have been released, while the 2018 funds would be released after proper account for last year.

Wike also signed the Keenule Beeson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic Law Three of 2018, Rivers State Waterways Law Four of 2018 and Rivers State Local Government Law Five of 2018.

Speaker of the House, Ikuinyi Ibani assured Governor Wike that the lawmakers were committed to the development of the state.
