Obinwanne Peace Movement Launched in Ugwunagbo, Aligns with Labour Party Ahead of 2027

 

It was an atmosphere of joy and celebration as Labour Party stakeholders, opinion moulders, traditional rulers, the people of Ugwunagbo, alongside friends and associates, gathered to witness the official unveiling of the Obinwanne Peace Movement (Igwe bu Ike), a socio-political grassroots mobilization platform founded by Hon. Chukwudi Ahuama (Eshiwe).

 

The colourful event, held at the Flyover Park, Alaoji in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area of Abia State, attracted a large turnout of party faithfuls and community leaders. The movement was formally unveiled, inaugurated and received into the Labour Party by the State Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Oti.

Speaking during the ceremony, Mr. Oti described the emergence of the Obinwanne Peace Movement as a welcome development, noting that it would further strengthen the grassroots structure of the Labour Party in Abia State. He emphasized that Governor Alex Otti’s people-oriented leadership and visible achievements have continued to attract support across communities.

 

The State Labour Party Chairman noted that Governor Otti has remained committed to delivering good governance through infrastructural renewal, transparency and accountability, adding that the Labour Party remains focused on consolidating its gains and expanding its support base ahead of future elections.

 

He commended the founder of the movement, Hon. Chukwudi Ahuama, for his foresight, leadership and dedication to mobilizing the people at the grassroots. He urged members of the group to align fully with the “Abia Arise” vision, remain law-abiding and work collectively to sustain the tempo of development, assuring them of inclusiveness and equal opportunities within the party.

In their separate remarks, the Mayor of Ugwunagbo LGA, Hon. Iheanacho Wagbara, the Member representing Ugwunagbo State Constituency, Chief Chijioke Uruakpa and the Ward 9 Councillor, Ugwunagbo Legislative Council, Mr. John Justice, while welcoming the group into the Labour Party, applauded Hon. Ahuama for his initiative and called on the people of Ugwunagbo and Abians at large to continue supporting Governor Alex Otti in his efforts to reposition the state.

 

In his address, the founder of Obinwanne Peace Movement, Hon. Chukwudi Ahuama, expressed appreciation to Governor Alex Otti for his massive infrastructural strides across the state, especially the reconstruction of Port Harcourt Road Aba, improvements in the transport system and enhanced power supply. He stated that the movement is committed to promoting peace, unity and grassroots political participation.

Hon. Ahuama described Governor Otti as a visionary and result-driven leader whose administration has restored hope among Abians, pointing out that the movement was formed to complement the governor’s development agenda and assured of their unwavering support and loyalty to the Labour Party.

 

Also speaking, the Chairman of the occasion and Patron of the movement, Engr. Wisdom Ananaba, the Planning Committee Secretary, Dr. Alfred Lucky, Dr. Temple Nwosu, who spoke on behalf of Ugwunagbo stakeholders and the Labour Party Chairman of Ugwunagbo LGA, Mr. Lawrence Achoke, commended the initiative and encouraged members to remain steadfast, united and committed to the ideals of the party.

In their goodwill messages, the Chairman of Ugwunagbo Traditional Rulers Council, Eze Chris Ajuzieogu, Mr. Sunday Ezeanyaso and the State Chairman, Association of Council of Chiefs and Village Heads, Chief Kingsley Egwuatu, lauded the founder and members of the movement for their vision and urged them to sustain the spirit of peace and community development.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of the Labour Party flag to Hon. Chukwudi Ahuama and members of the Obinwanne Peace Movement by the State Labour Party Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Oti, symbolizing their formal integration into the party.
