Trailer Hits Aba Central Mosque, Causes Heavy Damage

A trailer loaded with bags of white cement ran into the Aba Central Mosque on Azikiwe Road late last night. The crash caused heavy damage to the front of the mosque. The accident happened around 11:40 p.m. and scared people living and doing business in the busy area.

Eyewitnesses said the trailer lost control before it crashed into the mosque. One of them, Mr. Stanley Dike, explained that the driver could not stop the truck in time. The loud sound of the crash made many people rush to the scene to see what happened.

Thankfully, no one died in the accident. However, the imam of the mosque is still missing. Security officials said they have not been able to find him since the incident, and this has made members of the mosque very worried.

The mosque, which is an important place of worship in Aba, has been closed for now. Officials say they want to check the damage properly and make sure the building is safe before people can start using it again.

People in the area have asked the government to make the roads safer, especially busy ones like Azikiwe Road. They believe better traffic control and proper checks on big trucks can help stop this kind of accident from happening again.

At the time of this report, no police officers had come to the scene. A traffic officer who did not give his name said the cause of the crash is still unknown. He also said it has not been easy to get full details from witnesses.

Meanwhile, workers have started removing the cement from the damaged trailer and loading it into another vehicle. This is to clear the road and reduce traffic, as many vehicles were stuck after the accident.
