Akwa Ibom Stakeholders Rally Behind Etteh

The second-term bid of the lawmaker representing Eket/Onna/Esit-Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency, Okpolupm Etteh, for the 2027 general elections continues to gather momentum as constituents increasingly show solidarity.

The latest endorsement came from Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, a former member of the House of Representatives and Etteh’s major contender in the 2023 National Assembly election.

Speaking at a constituency stakeholders’ meeting held in Eket over the weekend, where Hon. Etteh presented his scorecard, Eyiboh expressed satisfaction with the lawmaker’s performance at the National Assembly.

He emphasized that his assessment was not driven by sentiment or political convenience, but by an objective evaluation grounded in legislative experience.

“I am here not as a sympathiser driven by primordial sentiments, but as someone grounded in legislative experience to assess representation based on facts,” he said.

Drawing attention to the often misunderstood nature of legislative work, Eyiboh noted that the legislature operates beyond easily visible metrics, making it difficult for the public to fully grasp the depth of representation and impact delivered by lawmakers.

Leveraging his experience within the National Assembly and his current advisory role, Eyiboh stated that his exposure to a broad spectrum of federal legislators across the country places him in a credible position to assess performance. He affirmed that Etteh’s record stands out, describing his achievements as visible, verifiable, and impactful.

“What he has presented goes beyond rhetoric. It reflects genuine representation. One good term deserves another,” he declared, signaling clear support for Etteh’s re-election.

In his presentation, Etteh detailed a wide range of interventions spanning employment facilitation, infrastructure development, healthcare services, education support, and legislative contributions. He highlighted efforts in sponsoring key establishment bills, facilitating federal employment opportunities for constituents, executing people-oriented projects, and attracting meaningful federal presence to the constituency.

The lawmaker also reflected on the early legal challenges that trailed his electoral victory, noting that despite the distractions, his focus remained firmly on delivering democratic dividends.

Reiterating his commitment to the people, Etteh stated that his representation has been driven by “results, not promises,” and pledged to deepen development efforts and expand opportunities if given another mandate.

The stakeholders’ meeting, which drew political leaders, community representatives, and constituents from across the federal constituency, further consolidated growing support for Etteh’s continued representation, with many describing his scorecard as a benchmark for effective and responsive leadership.
