NDDC, Ibom Air Partner to Grow Niger Delta

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has said it is increasing its efforts to support development in the region through strong partnerships.

Speaking at an important meeting with Ibom Air’s management in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the Managing Director of the Commission, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, explained that working with private companies is key to improving the Niger Delta.

He led the team and stressed that such partnerships will help speed up infrastructure projects and encourage more investors to come into the region.

“Through partnerships, we will create a strong economy that will help local communities and attract investment,” Ogbuku said.

He also mentioned that some ongoing projects include the 70.75km Omadino–Okerenkoko–Escravos Road, being carried out with the Delta State Government and Chevron. There are also joint projects with Shell and NLNG on important roads and bridges.

In his remarks, Ibom Air’s Acting Managing Director, George Uriesi, said the airline is focused on development through key initiatives. He added that plans are underway to create a regional aviation hub to boost tourism and business activities.

He noted that the partnership between NDDC and Ibom Air will help unlock the great potential of the Niger Delta and support economic growth in the region.
