Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has joined other Christian faithful and dignitaries in paying tribute to late evangelist, Uma Ukpai, lauding his enduring contributions to the spread of the gospel worldwide.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Barr. Sonny Ewule, the governor spoke at a Service of Songs held on Tuesday at the Royal House of Grace International Church in Port Harcourt. He described the deceased as a committed servant of God whose lifelong dedication to evangelism left a lasting impact on Christianity both in Nigeria and beyond.
Fubara noted that Ukpai’s ministry brought global recognition to the Christian faith, adding that his legacy would continue to inspire generations. He also assured the bereaved family and the Christian community of the state government’s support during this period.
In a sermon, Pastor Cletus Desmond of Redemption Ministries urged believers to reflect on the late preacher’s exemplary lifestyle, encouraging them to uphold values of discipline, faith, and selfless service.
Speaking for the family, Nnnena Uma Ukpai said her father remained resolute in his calling, continuing his evangelical mission even while battling illness. She described him as a man of strong faith and unwavering commitment to God’s work.
Host of the event and founder of the church, Apostle Zilly Aggrey, extolled Ukpai as a remarkable vessel of God, noting that the widespread participation in the Service of Songs highlighted the global reach of his ministry.
He further revealed that similar memorial services were held simultaneously in different parts of the world, reflecting the far-reaching legacy of the late cleric.
The well-attended event brought together clerics, worshippers, and admirers who gathered to celebrate the life and spiritual impact of the renowned evangelist.
