Isuikwuato Vows To Re-elect Gov Otti, Appreciates Him Over Appointment Of Uwanna As Attorney General 

 

Indigenes of Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State, today, has vowed to re-elect the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti for a second term, lauding him over the appointment of Ikechukwu Uwanna (SAN), as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. 

 

In a grand civic reception in honour of Ikechukwu Uwanna, held at Anunco Field in Isuikwuato, the people pledged their unflinching support to the Governor of the State, for appointing an Isuikwuato man to a key position which they said was the first time in the political history of the State.

 

The reception attracted government officials, political associates, traditional rulers and well-wishers who equally gathered to celebrate Uwanna’s recent elevation to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

In his welcome address, the Mayor of Isuikwuato, Hon Chinedu Ekeke, expressed appreciation to Governor Alex Otti for appointing their son as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. He noted that the appointment demonstrated the Governor’s confidence in Uwanna’s capacity to serve the state and expressed delight that the trust placed in him had been justified with his elevation to the rank of SAN.

Ekeke revealed that it was the first time an indigene of Isuikwuato would be appointed Attorney General of Abia State, describing the development as a proud moment for the people of the area.

He added that the large turnout at the event reflected the existing unity among the people and support for the Gov Otti’s led government.


In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (Rtd), welcomed guests and commended the Governor for giving Isuikwuato a prominent place in his administration.

In their goodwill messages, members of the Body of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, congratulated Uwanna on his elevation, describing it as well deserved and pledging their support to him.

Similarly, members of the 2001 graduating class of Law, represented by the Director General of the Abia State Strategic Communication Bureau, Barr. Onyebuchi Ememanka, recalled their experiences during their years of study, noting that despite the challenges they faced while pursuing their law degree, Uwanna consistently distinguished himself.


According to him, “If anyone from our class was going to become a SAN, we knew it would be Ikechukwu Uwanna”. He added that it was a remarkable achievement for their class to have produced two SANs within a short period of time, a feat he disclosed was difficult to achieve.

Also speaking, the member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon Lucky Johnson, expressed delight over the appointment of Uwanna and pledged that the people of Isuikwuato would support Governor Alex Otti in the 2027 election.

Similarly, the member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Amobi Ogah, and the former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Hon Uche Ogah, pledged their support for the Governor’s reelection bid, assuring that Isuikwuato would deliver overwhelming votes in his favour.

In his remarks, the celebrant, Ikechukwu Uwanna (SAN), thanked God for the progress being made in the education sector in Abia State. He noted that without quality education, his elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria would not have been possible.

Uwanna highlighted several achievements of the Otti’s administration in the education sector, including the retrofitting of schools, the introduction of free education, recruitment of over 5,000 teachers, and the renovation of hostel facilities at the Abia State University Uturu. He also commended the Governor for upgrading schools across Isuikwuato Local Government Area.

Earlier, Governor Alex Otti described Uwanna as a valuable asset to the state, praising his contributions to his administration and congratulating him on his elevation to SAN.

The Governor, however, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Abia State, criticizing the spread of misinformation by the opposition, stressing that his government would remain focused on the development of the state and would give no ears to their criticisms. According to the Governor, he would only respond to critics through visible achievements rather than propaganda.

In a vote of thanks, the Chairman of the Planning Committee and leader of the Labour Party in Isuikwuato, Barr. Ken Ahia, expressed appreciation to the Governor for appointing an indigene of Isuikwuato to such a critical position in the state government.
