The Chairman (Mayor) of Ohafia Local Government Area, Eleanya Oju Kalu, has approved the payment of tuition fees for 26 indigent students of Abia State College of Education (Technical), Arochukwu as part of efforts to support access to education and empower youths in the area.
This was contained in an official letter dated March 15, 2026, and addressed to the Provost of the institution, Idowu Obukohwo Eluwa, informing the college that the tuition fees of the listed students had been fully settled by the local government.
The letter, which was routed through the Chairman of the Admission Driver Committee, Usuka E. Isaac, stated that the gesture was aimed at assisting indigent students from the Council Area to pursue their academic ambitions without financial constraints.

The beneficiaries, drawn mostly from communities within Ohafia LGA such as Abiriba, Nkporo and Ohafia clans, are studying various courses including Political Science/Social Studies, Electrical and Electronics Education, Accounting, Computer Science, Biology, Integrated Science, Mathematics/Physics, Entrepreneurship, Building Technology, Biochemistry and Office Technology Management.
Commending the institution for its commitment to quality education, the council chairman expressed hope that the financial support would enable the students to focus on their studies and excel in their academic pursuits.
He also reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to partnering with educational institutions to promote youth development and human capital growth in Abia State.
The Council further wished the beneficiaries a successful and rewarding academic journey while encouraging them to make the most of the opportunity provided through the scholarship support.
