The President and Chairman of Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ike Neliaku, has called on leaders of NIPR chapters across the country to be more intentional in fostering professional engagement among members to strengthen the institute’s standards and relevance.
Neliaku made the call while speaking at the Annual General Meeting of the NIPR Anambra State Chapter, where he emphasised that effective leadership at the chapter level is critical to promoting professionalism, collaboration and excellence within the institute.
According to him, chapter executives must create an enabling environment that encourages members to actively participate in professional activities and uphold the values for which the institute is known.
He noted that members must deliberately move away from attitudes and practices that do not reflect the ethical standards and professional ethos associated with the NIPR.
The NIPR president also commended the leadership of the Abia State Chapter, describing its chairman, Onyinye Ralph-Nwachukwu, as an intentional and visionary leader whose style of leadership has continued to inspire confidence and purposeful engagement among members.
He stated that since her emergence as chairman of the Abia chapter, the institute in the state has witnessed increased strategic engagements that have strengthened its institutional relevance and visibility.
Neliaku further acknowledged the spirit of solidarity among chapter leaders, noting that the presence of Ralph-Nwachukwu and the Chairman of the NIPR Imo State Chapter, Alexander Okeke, at the meeting demonstrated a growing culture of collaboration within the institute.
According to him, such cooperation among chapters is essential for sustaining the growth, influence and relevance of the NIPR across the country.
The AGM and summit attracted public relations professionals, stakeholders and leaders within the institute, providing a platform to review the progress of the profession while exploring new strategies for deeper impact and professional excellence.
