SSG Charges Medical Practitioners to Maintain Highest Professional Standards

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, has urged medical practitioners to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

Dr. Meribole made this call while receiving the executive members of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Abia State Chapter, led by its Chairman, Dr. Ezuruike Ezinwa, during a courtesy visit to his office.

He commended the association for appreciating Governor Alex Otti over his appointment, noting that the gesture reflected unity and professional solidarity within the medical community.

Describing Governor Otti as a visionary leader committed to strategic governance, the SSG stated that the administration has recorded remarkable strides in the health sector, including surpassing the 15 percent budgetary allocation to health as recommended by the Abuja Declaration.

He further explained that the government is vigorously pursuing universal health coverage in all its ramifications to ensure accessible and affordable healthcare for residents across the state.

Dr. Meribole assured the association of his unwavering commitment to excellence in the discharge of his responsibilities as SSG.

Earlier in his remarks, the NMA Chairman, Dr. Ezuruike Ezinwa, said the visit was to congratulate Dr. Meribole on his well-deserved appointment and to assure him of the association’s full support. He also expressed appreciation to Governor Otti for the appointment and commended the administration’s significant achievements, particularly in the health sector.

The visit featured the presentation of a souvenir to the SSG and was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Office of the SSG, Dr. Godwin Okezuo, and the Special Assistant to the SSG, Ochea Idika.
