NDDC Assures Timely Delivery of 21-Kilometre Cross-State Road

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to completing the 21-kilometre Ehime-Nguru Aba Branch Mpam Umuokirika Ekwereazu Road, which connects Imo State, Abia State, and Rivers State, in the shortest possible time.

The Managing Director of the Commission, Samuel Ogbuku, gave the assurance during an inspection visit to Ahiazu Mbaise, where he expressed satisfaction with the progress of the project.

Dr. Ogbuku emphasised the importance of the road, noting that it links three NDDC mandate states and spans four Local Government Areas in Imo State. He announced that the second phase of the project would soon be awarded, adding that the Ahiara Ngor Okpala axis would also be addressed, a move expected to boost economic activities in the area upon completion.

The NDDC boss thanked the people of Ahiazu Mbaise for their warm reception and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to delivering the project in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

In his response, the traditional ruler of Ihitteaforukwu Kingdom, Eze Dr. O. Nwandu, commended the NDDC for undertaking the project, describing it as a major relief for the people. He noted that the road had been impassable for about 15 years, symbolising neglect and hardship, but said the Commission’s intervention had restored hope to the affected communities.
