The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 9, Kanayo Uzuegbu, on Thursday decorated newly promoted officers at the Zonal Headquarters in Umuahia.
The ceremony, held at the AIG’s office, was attended by senior police officers, family members, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the officers’ elevation to their new ranks.
Among those honoured was ASP Israel Nkwoure, who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
Representing the AIG, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Zone 9, DCP Uchenna Anioawo, congratulated the officers on their well-deserved promotions. He urged them to regard their new ranks as a call to greater service, dedication, and professionalism.
He reminded them that promotion comes with increased responsibility and encouraged them to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force, emphasising discipline, loyalty, and commitment to protecting lives and property within the zone. He stressed that integrity and accountability must remain their guiding principles.
Responding on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ASP Israel Nkwoure of the Special Protection Unit (SPU), Base 9, Umuahia, expressed gratitude to God and the leadership of the Force for recognising their efforts.
He pledged that they would redouble their efforts and justify the confidence reposed in them.
The ceremony was also attended by Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) of the Zonal Command and the Commander of SPU Base 9, Umuahia. It concluded with goodwill messages and photo sessions to mark the memorable occasion.
