Acting SSG Commends Retired Staff, Celebrates Years of Dedicated Service

The Acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, has commended retired staff of the Office of the SSG for their dedication, commitment, and selfless service to Abia State over the years.

Dr. Meribole gave the commendation during a send-off ceremony organised in honour of the retirees, describing their contributions as invaluable to the growth, stability, and effective functioning of government.

He conveyed the appreciation of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, noting that the Governor has continued to provide an enabling environment for public servants to enhance service delivery across the state.

The Acting SSG assured the retirees of God’s providence, protection, and guidance as they transition into a new phase of life. He encouraged them to remain active after retirement by maintaining social connections, engaging in regular physical exercise, and undergoing routine medical check-ups to sustain good health.

Dr. Meribole thanked the retirees for honouring the invitation and prayed for continued success, fulfilment, and sound health in their post-service lives.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the SSG, Dr. Godwin Okezuo, expressed appreciation to the Acting SSG for approving the ceremony and lauded the retirees for their years of committed and meritorious service to Abia State.

Responding on behalf of the retirees, the Director of Finance, Mr. Emeka Ikwuagwu, PhD, thanked God for the opportunity to serve and expressed gratitude to the Acting SSG and the management of the Office for the honour accorded them. He also commended His Excellency, the Governor, for making retirement rewarding through the prompt payment of pensions, while advising serving officers to adequately prepare for retirement, describing it as an inevitable phase of life.

In separate remarks, staff of the Office, including Mr. Onyekachi Wachuku, Ms. Nnena Chekwas, Mrs. Chiwe Iheadindu, and Mrs. Glory Ikeanyi, appreciated the leadership for creating an opportunity to celebrate the retirees and offered prayers for their continued well-being.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of gifts to the retirees.
