The Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, has urged the South East Development Commission (SEDC) to work closely with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to promote growth and development in the South East and South South regions.

He made this call during the South East Vision 2050 Stakeholders’ Forum held in Enugu. The event brought together government officials, NDDC representatives, and leaders from different states.

According to the Minister, the partnership will help improve important infrastructure such as rail transport and agriculture. He said working together will also help build unity and long-term progress in the region. Engr. Momoh added that the creation of the South East Development Commission by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shows the Federal Government’s commitment to focused and well-planned development in the South East.

In his keynote speech, Vice President Kashim Shettima described the South East Vision 2050 as a 25-year development plan that is very important to Nigeria’s economic future. He announced that President Tinubu has approved the establishment of the South East Investment Company Limited. The company will raise funds from Nigerians in the diaspora, the capital market, and development finance institutions to support projects in the region.
