Meribole Hails Archbishop Opoko’s Visit as Good Omen for Abia

The Acting Secretary to the Abia State Government (SSG), Dr. Emmanuel Meribole, has described the courtesy visit by the Archbishop of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Umuahia Diocese, His Grace, Most Reverend Chibuzo Raphael Opoko, as a positive sign and a good omen for Abia State.
Dr. Meribole made the remark while receiving the Archbishop in his office, noting that the visit of a respected cleric to the seat of government symbolises divine guidance and hope for the continued progress of the state. He expressed appreciation for the prayers and goodwill extended to the government and people of Abia State.
The Acting SSG used the occasion to commend Governor Alex Otti, OFR, for the construction of the modern edifice housing the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, describing it as a reflection of the administration’s commitment to infrastructural development and improved working conditions for public servants. He prayed for God’s wisdom, strength, and grace upon the Governor to sustain the tempo of development across the state.
Dr. Meribole also praised Archbishop Opoko for his selfless service to God and humanity, acknowledging his works of love and dedication to the church and society. He offered prayers for the Archbishop’s perfect and divine healing, while reaffirming his commitment to diligently support and advance the vision and objectives of the Otti-led administration.
Earlier in his remarks, Archbishop Opoko expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for appointing Dr. Emmanuel Meribole as Acting Secretary to the State Government, describing the appointment as divinely ordained. He prayed for God’s wisdom, guidance, and protection upon the Acting SSG, noting that his emergence at this time serves a higher purpose.
The Archbishop also commended Governor Otti for providing a befitting and work-friendly office complex for the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, describing the initiative as thoughtful and people-oriented.
The visit featured special prayers for the Acting SSG and the presentation of a Bible to him by the Archbishop. Also present at the event was the Permanent Secretary, Office of the SSG, Dr. Godwin Okezuo.
