Gov. Diri Charges 1,236 Corps Members on Discipline

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, has welcomed the 2026 Batch A, Stream 1 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state, cautioning them against negative lifestyles and their consequences.

The corps members, numbering 1,236, comprise 681 females and 555 males.

Governor Diri, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Alfred Kemepado Nimizigha, urged the corps members to uphold dignity, responsibility, and discipline throughout their service year in the state.

 

He reassured them of the state government’s commitment to their welfare and encouraged them to take their service seriously in order to acquire valuable skills that would contribute to their personal development.

The governor emphasized the importance of the orientation camp as a vital foundation for discipline, character building, and national unity. He advised the corps members to guide their youthful energy with wisdom to avoid actions that could lead to negative consequences.

In his remarks, the Bayelsa State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Samuel Amaramiro Pepple, urged the corps members to participate actively in all camp activities and to remain responsible and law-abiding during their stay in the state.

The event reached its climax with the administration of the oath of allegiance on the corps members by the State Chief Judge, represented by Hon. Justice I. Eradiri.
