IDP Facilities Handed Over to Abia Government

The Abia State Government has received the newly completed Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) facilities built by Vickel Global Resource Limited at Mgbarakuma Ubakala in Umuahia South Local Government Area.

Dr. Sunny Jackson, the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), accepted the keys and handover documents on behalf of the government. He thanked the Presidential Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation for choosing Abia as one of the 24 states to benefit from the project and for making sure the work was completed.

 

Dr. Jackson promised that the facilities would be used properly for the purpose they were built. He also praised Governor Alex Otti for creating the supportive environment that helped the project run smoothly.

While handing over the keys, Mr. Onimode Haruna, representing the Presidential Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation, said he was happy that the project was completed according to the right standard. He encouraged the government to make good use of the facility and asked future IDPs to protect and take care of it.

Project consultant Mr. Okoli Basil and resident supervisor Mr. Kamalu Donatus also expressed their satisfaction with the completion of the work. They noted that handing over the project on time would help prevent vandalism and ensure the facilities are used when needed.

Mr. Ezekiel Francis, speaking for Vickel Global Resource Limited, thanked both the presidential committee and the Abia State Government for their support throughout the project.

The event ended with a tour of the completed buildings and the signing of the handover documents.
