The Judiciary on Monday, November 24, started its 31st annual sports competition at the Uyo Township Stadium in Akwa Ibom State.

While declaring the event open, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, said the yearly sports competition has helped improve unity and the well-being of judiciary staff. The CJN was represented by Justice Uchechukwu Onyemenam, the Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Calabar Division.

She explained that the competition is not just for fun but also represents important values that guide the judiciary teamwork, resilience, fairness, integrity, and respect.

She said, “It is my honour to join you for the opening of this annual Judiciary Sports Competition organised by the National Sports Association for the Judiciary (NASAJ).

“The Judiciary is often seen only through its serious duties interpreting the law, settling disputes, and protecting the rights of citizens. But behind these duties are many dedicated men and women whose mental, physical, and emotional health help the justice system function properly.
