The Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC) has completed the drilling of water boreholes in two oil and gas host communities of Ukwa West Local Government Area, bringing relief to residents long plagued by water scarcity.

In Asa South Autonomous Community, Umuaka, the traditional ruler, Eze Sunday Nwogu, commended the Commission for the project, describing it as a major relief for his people who had endured years of trekking long distances to fetch water from neighbouring villages.

Eze Nwogu expressed gratitude to ASOPADEC’s General Manager, Dr. Joshua Onyeike, for his commitment to grassroots development, and lauded Governor Alex Otti for supporting the Commission to deliver on its mandate.

Similarly, residents of Umuinwere Obokwe—Pastor Uzoma Adiele, Ubani Adiele, and Chika Nwosu—hailed the intervention, noting that before the project, their only source of water was the Ifeoaka stream, where villagers dug into the ground to access water.
