Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, says he is at the forefront of securing the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Governor Otti disclosed this while responding to questions during the September edition of his Monthly Media Parley, tagged: “Governor Otti Speaks,” held at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Umuahia.
The Governor further revealed that the matter is being pursued by him alongside Governors of the South East region.
He said that engagements have been ongoing at various levels to facilitate Kanu’s release but explained that the details of the discussions would not be made public in order not to jeopardise the process.
“We have been engaging on the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu but the level at which we are engaging, the discussions that have happened and the assurances that have been received are not for public consumption, since it may derail the process.
“But you can take it for granted that as his (Nnamdi Kanu’s) Governor, I’m in the forefront of ensuring that he comes back home.
“All the South East Governors are in tandem. So we are discussing it,” Governor Otti said.
