Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed deep gratitude to the people of Rivers State for the overwhelming show of love, confidence, and solidarity that greeted his return to office following the end of emergency rule in the state.
Governor Fubara, who arrived at the domestic wing of the Port Harcourt International Airport on Friday, September 19, 2025, alongside his wife, Lady Valerie Fubara, was received by his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, members of the State Executive Council, leaders of the State House of Assembly, serving and former council chairmen, stakeholders, and a jubilant crowd of supporters.
The governor, visibly moved by the massive turnout, described the warm reception as a reaffirmation of the strong bond between his administration and the people.
“I am really humbled by what I saw at the airport,” Fubara said while addressing journalists shortly after inspecting sections of Government House, Port Harcourt. “The reception shows love, confidence, and solidarity. It is not just about the celebration or the massive crowd, but about the reaffirmation of the bond between this government and the people we serve.”
Governor Fubara assured Rivers people that his administration would continue to sustain that bond by pursuing policies and programmes that improve their lives.
“By the grace of God, we will continue to do those things that endeared us to you. I want to appreciate everyone and to say that we love you in return,” he added.
He also commended stakeholders, leaders, and authorities at various levels whose efforts contributed to the restoration of peace and normalcy in Rivers State, pledging never to take the people’s trust for granted.
Port Harcourt and other parts of the state were thrown into celebration as news of the governor’s return spread, with residents trooping out in large numbers to welcome him back to office and demonstrate their support for his leadership.
