Ohanku Residents Praise Governor Otti Over Infrastructural Development

The overwhelming joy of residents of Ohanku Road in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State, knows no bounds as they are among the people who have experienced and enjoyed the practical dividends of democracy since Governor Alex Otti’s administration came on board.

The residents are overjoyed with the new development, mostly the reconstruction of the abandoned Ohanku Road by the previous administration over two decades ago, which was fixed to an international standard within two years of Otti’s administration.

Speaking to our correspondent on the feeling of the people and juxtaposing it with the horrible experience of the past years, Mr. Tochi Ike, a resident at Owerri, Aba, said they are happy as they can move freely without frog-jumping or circumnavigating through corners and people’s backyards to go uptown.

He stressed how they would have suffered based on the three days of consistent rain in Aba, which whenever it happened attracted the high cost of transportation in the area. As such, motorists and tricycle operators saw it as an opportunity to extort the people. But now, even if it rains for a whole week, the transportation fare remains the same due to the good road.

Furthermore, another resident, Mrs. Nkechi Ukah, said that her heart is filled with joy since the reconstruction of Ohanku Road because the expenses she used to face during the rainy season have ended. She added that they no longer struggle to go home whenever it rains these days.

They praised the Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, for keeping to his campaign promises and thanked him for keeping to his promise. The residents also expressed gratitude for what the Governor has done within his two years in office and promised to vote for him again and again.

In their own experience, some roadside mechanics, while interacting with our reporter, thanked the Governor for coming to their aid but stressed that they no longer have customers as usual due to the good road in the area. Motorists and tricycle operators also lamented that when the road was bad, they made more profits than now that the road is good. They thanked the government of Alex Chioma Otti for his good work on Ohanku Road and other areas in Aba.
