Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fully implementing the report of the Abia State Panel of Inquiry on the Recovery of Government Properties, Funds and other related matters.
Governor Otti who stated this while receiving the panel’s final report from its Chairman, retired Justice Florence Duruoha-Igwe, disclosed that a committee is already working on the white paper, which will be published in due course.
The Governor clarified that the establishment of the panel was not designed to witch-hunt anyone but rather to provide clarity on events that transpired under the previous administration.
He commended Justice Duruoha-Igwe and members of the panel for what he described as a thorough job, stressing that his government is determined to uphold due process and will not compromise on standards.
Earlier in his remarks, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Ikechukwu Uwanna, noted that the panel had previously submitted its first and second reports to the Governor.
He assured that the white paper would soon be concluded and presented to the Governor for further action.
Presenting the final report, Justice Duruoha-Igwe expressed appreciation to the Governor for the opportunity to serve the state in such capacity.
She explained that the panel was able to exhaust its mandate and thanked the z Governor for the extra time granted the panel which allowed it to entertain additional petitions.
