The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested one Amisu Bala, a 30-year-old male, for alleged involvement in stealing vandalized telecommunication mast along Obong Sampson Idiong Drive in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Uyo on Friday.
John said the arrest was made on Tuesday, September 2, following actionable intelligence.
According to the PPRO, when the operatives arrived at the scene of the crime, the suspects, upon sighting them, fled, leaving behind a green Isuzu truck with registration number AFG 517 XA, which they had used in carting away the stolen mast.
She added that the officers pursued the fleeing individuals and later caught the said Bala, noting that the suspect is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
“Operatives pursued the fleeing individuals, leading to the arrest of one suspect, Amisu Bala, a 30-year-old male. He is currently in custody and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation,” she stated.
She further said both the recovered truck and the stolen telecom mast are in police custody, adding that efforts are being made to arrest the remaining members of the syndicate.
