The battle of two newly-promoted sides at Turf Moor between Burnley and Sunderland ended 2-0 in favour of the home side.
Captain, Josh Cullen scored the opening goal when he curled a low shot into the far corner two minutes after half-time.
Jaidon Anthony then raced onto Cullen’s pass and rounded the goalkeeper to double Burnley’s lead and confirm they will take all three points after they lost their opening match of the season 3-0 to Tottenham Hotspur.
This victory will definitely boost the confidence of Burnley, who travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United next Saturday before they host defending champions Liverpool after the international break, on Sunday, September 14.
Sunderland, on their part, will welcome Brentford to the Stadium of Light next Saturday, and travel to Crystal Palace after the international break.
