Thabiso Kutumela‘s clinical finish on the stroke of half time helped South Africa secured a 1-1 draw with Algeria in their second Group C encounter with Algeria in Kampala.
Abdennour Belhocini opened scoring for Algeria just before the half-hour mark.
This result placed both teams in a superior position to claim the quarter final tickets.
In the Group’s second match, Uganda thrashed Guinea 3-0 with goals from Reagan Mpande, Allan Okello from the penalty spot and Ahimbisiwe.
Uganda will take on Niger in their next match while Guinea will tread tackles with South Africa.
