Action moved to Group C on day three of the ongoing African Nations Championship with Niger taking on Guinea while co-host Uganda confronting Algeria.
After a goalless first half, Mohamed Bangura found the net early in the second half to give Guinea a lone goal victory over hard fighting Niger Republic.
In the Group’s second match, Algeria tore co-host, Uganda apart with 3-0.
Goals from Ayoub Ghezala, Abderrhmane Meziane and Soufiane Bayazid were all the North Africans needed to grab all three points.
This victory is Algeria’s third consecutive victory over the Cranes of Uganda, who are aiming to reach CHAN’s knock-out stage for the first time.
Algeria have now gone 712 minutes without conceding a goal in open play in the competition. The last time they conceded a goal in open play was the 2011 third-place match against Sudan.
Uganda will hope to bounce back to winning ways when they take on South Africa in their second match while Algeria will be hoping to qualify for the second round with a match to spare when they confront Niger.
