Reiterates Zero Tolerance for Corruption in Civil Service

The Abia State Government has reaffirmed its unwavering stance against corruption within the Civil Service, warning erring public servants to desist from unethical practices or face serious consequences.

The Head of Service, Mr. Benson Ojeikere, delivered the warning while addressing civil servants in Umuahia, emphasizing that the state government remains resolute in its policy of zero tolerance for corruption and is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards across the service.

Mr. Ojeikere decried the prevalence of theft and fraudulent activities among some civil servants, which, he said, have tainted the image of the Public Service. He urged all workers to eliminate such practices in order to restore the dignity, credibility, and trust of the system.

“The government will no longer tolerate sabotage or complacency in the implementation of its policies and programmes,” he said, adding that all staff must strictly adhere to the newly introduced operational procedures.

The Head of Service called on civil servants to embrace discipline, dedication, and a strong personal drive in the discharge of their duties. He urged them to make meaningful sacrifices and focus on contributing value to the service, rather than chasing personal or financial gain.

Mr. Ojeikere also encouraged workers to adopt a positive mindset, reflect on their conduct, and remain committed to ethical behavior. He further appealed to public service stakeholders to support the fight against corruption by reporting unethical practices through the mobile number 0802 700 0051 or via email at betterrservice@abiastate.gov.ng.

The government, he said, is determined to build a service founded on integrity, transparency, and professionalism.
