Gov. Otti Commissions 150 kVA Solar Power Project At Abia Specialist Hospital

 

 

Abia State Governor , Dr Alex Otti has commissioned a 150 kVA Solar Power Project at the Abia State Specialist and Diagnostic Centre, Umuahia, to guarantee uninterrupted electricity supply for critical health services.

 

Speaking on Wednesday during the commissioning ceremony, Governor Otti described the project as a significant milestone towards sustainable infrastructure and lauded the transition to renewable energy.

 

“The Governor while expressing delight over the achievement said, “This is a major step toward sustainable infrastructure”.

 

He explained that the Solar System would serve as the hospital’s primary power source, with the national grid providing backup, thereby eliminating the need for generators.

 

Earlier, the Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Mr Ikechukwu Monday, while giving an overview of the project’s specifications, noted that the system includes a 430 kWh battery storage facility and a 100 kVA inverter system dedicated to the eye and Pediatrics Clinics.

The Commissioner added that an additional 50 kVA system had been installed for the hospital’s emergency theatre to ensure a stable power supply for life-saving procedures and essential medical equipment.

 

He thanked the Governor Otti for his unwavering support, describing the project as clear evidence of the administration’s commitment to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
